The Genesee County Sheriff's Office has confirmed that one person has died in a house fire Friday morning at 7881 Lewiston Road in Batavia.

Authorities say the fire broke out around 2 a.m. Friday. When fire crews arrived, one portion of the house was fully engulfed in flames.

Judy Clark, 41, told authorities she was alerted to the fire by a smoke detector and the family's barking dog.

Clark was able to escape the fire with only minor smoke inhalation.  Her son, Michael Mooney, 15, escaped through a bathroom window.  He suffered a laceration to his arm and smoke inhalation.  The other son, Erik Mooney, 17, was located unconscious at the top of the stairwell.  He was taken to United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia.  Erik Mooney was pronounced dead at 3:10 Friday morning.

Firefighter say it appears the fire started on the porch and then spread throughout the home.  There is heavy smoke damage throughout the building.

Authorities are looking into a cause and have not ruled anything out.
