Reported by: WROC-TV Monday, Nov 23, 2009 @03:20pm EST The Consumer Product Safety Commission is expected to announce the largest crib recall in history on Tuesday.
A spokesman with the CPSC has been quoted as saying "it's going to be really important for all parents to pay attention." The recall is widely expected to include drop-side type cribs. Past recalls for those crib types have been prompted by worries that children could become trapped by the crib mechanism and suffocate. The government agency says more than five-million cribs, bassinets and play yards have been subject to recall since 2007. he CPSC website offers several suggestions for parents that will help prevent accidents. Among them, make sure there are no gaps larger than two fingers between the sides of the crib and mattress and "proper assembly of cribs is paramount." The agency says if a parent isn't sure about some part of the assembly to call the manufacturer for assistance. |
