Reported by: WROC-TV Friday, Nov 20, 2009 @04:20pm EST Better buckle your seatbelts. On Friday, state and local police began the annual Buckle Up New York campaign.
The campaign hopes to save nearly 150 lives and more than $400 million in taxpayers dollars each year. During last year's campaign, state troopers issued 16,000 tickets to drivers for not wearing their seatbelts. Fines for driving without a seatbelt range from $25 up to more than $100. The campaign will continue through the Thanksgiving holiday. Troopers have set up checkpoints along the Thruway. |
