During a news conference in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Gates was asked about the endgame in the eight-year Afghan war. He remarked that America's goal in the region was still to enable Afghans to take control of their own security. President Obama is currently considering military requests for tens of thousands of additional U.S. troops in Afghanistan. |
