Bacteria B cepacia was discovered in a small amount at a German plant that makes the spray. According to Procter & Gamble, the bacteria poses no danger to healthy individuals. However, it can lead to serious infections in persons with lowered immune systems or those who have chronic lung conditions. The bacteria is limited to one batch of raw material involving three lots of product. The recalls pertain only to the U.S., the United Kingdom and Germany. The products under the recall in the U.S. are sold as Vicks Sinex Vapospray 12-Hour Decongestant Ultra Fine Mist Nasal Spray. Officials at P&G urge any consumer of the product suffering an adverse effect from the spray to contact the company. At this time, no illnesses have been reported. |
