Reported by: WROC-TV Wednesday, Nov 18, 2009 @02:30pm EST Attorney General Eric Holder says New York City should not bear the financial burden of providing security at the trial of suspected 9-11 terrorists.
Holder was questioned by New York Senator Chuck Schumer at a hearing in Washington, DC on Wednesday morning. Schumer says the New York City police department could be hit with more than 75-million dollars in beefed up security costs. The Senator says while the US Marshals will monitor the federal courthouse, it will be the NYPD which secures the areas of Lower Manhattan surrounding the court. Holder told Schumer that he will work with the Senator to secure full reimbursement for the City. |
