Here's a list of events going on Wednesday in and around Rochester: VA Western New York Healthcare System is celebrating Veterans Day at the Batavia site. All Veterans are encouraged to wear their medals. That starts at 10 a.m. Also a ceremony will be held at 3 p.m. at the flag pole of the VA in Batavia. St. Ann's Community will host a special Veterans Day Service in St. Ann's Chapel at 10:30am. The Honor Guard will Post the Colors; the names of the veterans who reside at St. Ann's Home and The Heritage will be read; and Girl Scouts will lead the Pledge of Allegiance, the National Anthem and other patriotic songs. Representative Eric Massa will visit the Canandaigua American Legion for a monument dedication from 10:30 a.m- 12 p.m. He then will march in a parade through Canandaigua that starts at 96 West Gibson Street. The Blue Cross Arena holds a Veterans Day ceremony at 11:11 a.m. Finger Lakes Community College will hold a Veterans Day Ceremony at 1 p.m. The observance will be held in the FLCC gymnasium at the back of the main building, 3325 Marvin Sands Drive. Visitors should leave extra time for parking due to construction on campus and use parking lot D behind the main building. The City of Rochester and the Veterans Outreach Center will present the Veterans Day RPO POPS Spectacular to pay tribute to Rochester's military veterans. Tickets are free for veterans; $5 for non-veterans. The concert starts at 7 p.m. at the Blue Cross Arena. |
