Reported by: WROC-TV Saturday, Nov 7, 2009 @09:37pm EST An event in downtown Rochester Saturday night raised money and awareness for kids with diabetes.
The 10th Annual Hope for a Cure Gala was held at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center. The event is for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. The group helps local families whose children have been diagnosed with diabetes. "When our daughter was diagnosed we were lost and scared," said Chip Strowe. "We had no idea what the future would bring. They were a wonderful support. They taught us the things we needed to know to keep our daughter alive." News 8's Kevin Doran emceed the event. The Rochester, NY chapter of the foundation was founded in 1996. Since then, it has raised more than $1.4 million. |
