An Ontario County man is accused of stalking a coworker, and then allegedly tried to beat her to death.

58-year-old Robert Collins of Farmington stalked a female coworker for several weeks, according to Phil Povero, the Ontario County Sheriff. He then allegedly showed up to her home on Route 96 in Victor on Thursday night, and attacked her with a sawed-off handle from a piece of equipment.

Police said the victim was able to escape, and fled down Route 96. She was helped by a passerby, and is expected to be okay.

Collins has been charged with attempted murder.
