Reported by: WROC-TV Wednesday, Nov 4, 2009 @06:50am EST Across the region, voter turnout was very low.
The numbers we are seeing are basically in line with what we've seen in local election years. In Monroe County, 29% of eligible voters showed up at the polls Tuesday night with turnout heavier in the suburbs than in Rochester. Democrats had feared that the lack of a competitive race within the city would hurt their countywide candidates, because Democrats hold such a big advantage in the city. Some folks we spoke to say they won't miss a chance to vote, while others say getting to their polling place is a real challenge. |
