Reported by: Lauren MacDonough Wednesday, Sep 30, 2009 @01:16pm EDT "Recently Bank of America jacked up my interest rate on my credit card to a whopping 30 percent. 30% APR. I could get a better rate from a loan shark."
We've heard this all before; a big bank taking advantage of the little guy. Ann Minch says she called Bank of America to negotiate her interest rate back down. They wouldn't budge and even referred her to a credit counselor. So she took it to Youtube. "These are my terms. Unless you return my interest rate and monthly installment amount to what it was before the rate hike or you make me a too-good-to-turn-down pay-off offer, you're not getting another penny out of me. " Her "Debtors Revolt" video went viral. It's been seen more than 391,000 times. "Stick that in your bailout pipe and smoke it." Minch said Bank of America's senior vice president saw the video and called her. The bank caved, dropping her rate to its original 12.99%. She's not done revolting. Minch is launching a website soon called debtorsrevoltnow.com. Her next project - a tax revolt. |
