Monday, Sep 14, 2009 @10:58pm EDT Bob MetcalfeNews 8 Weekend Meteorologist Bob is proud to call himself a Rochester native, growing up right here in the town of Irondequoit. He attributes his early interest in weather to the variable climate of western New York that he remembers so vividly experiencing as a child, notably the frequent lake effect snow storms and the infamous Ice Storm of 1991. Bob began his career as a morning meteorologist at WDTV in Clarksburg, West Virginia before coming to WROC in January of 2008. He holds a Bachelors of Science degree in meteorology from SUNY Oswego and is in the process of obtaining his Certified Broadcast Meteorologist accreditation from the American Meteorological Society. Bob continues to play his lifelong favorite sport of hockey, and considers himself and avid Amerks and Sabres fan. He spends his free time working out, skiing, fishing, wrenching on cars and listening to Led Zeppelin. He also enjoys rocking out to Guitar Hero but says, "I'm more of a guitar ZERO!" |
