Reported by: WROC-TV Wednesday, Sep 2, 2009 @03:40pm EDT A new study shows seeing singer Britney Spears', and other celebrities names, may signal a risk for Alzheimer's disease.
The Cleveland Clinic study involved 69 healthy people between 65 and 85-years old. They were split into three groups and underwent MRIs to scan brain activity, while names of famous people and not-so-famous people flashed in front of them. Researchers found those with the lower risk for the disease had the lowest levels of brain activity when they saw names of Spears and Bob Hope. Those with the highest risk for developing Alzheimer's showed the highest levels of brain activity when they saw the names. |
