The Steuben County Sheriff's Office reports an ongoing investigation into a reported missing person investigation in the Town of Wayne. Shortly after 6:30pm Saturday evening,

Sheriff Deputies were called to the area of Keuka Village in the Town of Wayne to conduct an investigation into the report of a person who had fallen off a vessel while in motion on Keuka Lake. Richard V. O'Dell, 45, of Elmhurst Circle in Corning, was reported to have fallen off a private vessel with two other persons onboard. An extensive underwater search was then conducted in the area of the reported incident by several area law enforcement agencies, fire departments, and local are dive teams.

The underwater search was suspended shortly after nightfall and resumed shortly after 7:00 a.m. but was suspended around 6:00 p.m. due to serve thunder and lighting storms.

The Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene of the incident by the Yates County Sheriff's Office, the New York State Police, the Hammondsport Fire Department, the Wayne Fire dept., the Pulteney Fire Dept., the Steuben County Sheriff's Office Navigation Patrol.

The investigation is continuing and the scene has been secured by Sheriff's Deputies until the search resumes around 7:00 a.m. Monday.
